To apply for these jobs you don’t need to be an Internet expert,because they provide further details about the application process,

After applying, when you meet their qualifications  required for particular jobs they will contact you through phone but in most cases through your email address.

4:Network, Network, Network: Instead of posting jobs on jobs board which might cost company in terms of time and money, many employers  use current employee inside the company to look for ideal candidates to fill open positions.

As you look for career in natural and gas industry your job is to wide your network by asking friends and family about others who are currently working with oil and natural gas industry and network with.

The more people you know in oil and gas industry  the more you increase your chance to get jobs in oil and gas companies

An interview with Maintenance Engineer In charge and maintenance supervisor at Schlumberger-Innocnt Anthony

  We had   meeting  with Innocent Anthony and  he  agreed to share with us about his career on oil and gas industry, work experience and his memorable trips, We are very delighted to share with you this wonderful conversation.

1.Tanzania petroleum: You have bachelor degree in Electrical engineering, how did you get an  idea to join oil and gas industry?

Mr  Innocent Anthony: Well, Before I had no idea about oil and gas industry, I got this opportunity during schlumberger career fair at University of Dar es Salaam in 2012 when i was in my senior year engineering students waiting to sit for my final year examinations. I passed through different schlumberger series of interview sessions and thank you God i was among of few candidates who were selected to join Schlumbrger in Tanzania  where am currently working as  Maintenance engineer and maintenance supervisor

2.Tanzania petroleum: Now you are working in office but earlier you were working  on the rig? What are the most difficulties for you to work in field.

Mr Innocent Anthony: I started my career as a Field engineer and spending most of my time in the field, from Kenyan desert land rigs, land rigs in the forest of west Africa  and offshore East African mainly Tanzania and Namibia.The field life is not easy  and not for everybody, working in harsh environments, cold to hot,24/7 is not easy, Staying away from your  family  for  for long time, living in very remote location or offshore, working with people from nationals and different behaviors just to meet a common goal, extracting hydrocarbon from the ground.

3.Tanzania Petroleum: As the nature of petroleum jobs it involves  trips  in distance places across the world, As you have travelled in many places, what are memorable experienced during your visits

Mr :Innocent Anthony:My memorable trips is when I visited  South Korea , where  I got opportunity to see how drill ships are built from scratch, installation of rigs on the ship and installation of service companies drilling completion equipment on the drill ship

4.Tanzania Petroleum: As the layoffs increasing in petroleum companies, what is your advice to recent graduates and other professionals who are looking for a career in oil and gas business.

Mr  Innocent Anthony: Regarding ongoing massive layoff in the oil and gas industry, this is normal in the petroleum industry.Sometimes the oil and gas industry faces this kind of downturn due to low oil prices. Last time it happened in 2009 but  but we saw it happening again  now after 6 years. I hope oil prices  wil return  to normal  soon as we have recently seen stability of crude oil price per barel

5.Tanzaniapetroleum:Before start working, ideally you have  to pass a special training and test, can you tell us  about those tarainings and test?

Mr Innocent Anthony:Yes when I started my career I had no idea about this industry since I graduate with Bachelor of science in Electrical engineering. From the first day of my job I was taken through  a series of classes and on job training(working while learning). I was trained in country like France. Abu Dhabi, United states etc. also working to get field exposure  in countries like Congo Brazzavile,Kenya, Uganda Cameroon, Namibia and Mozambique. In all these countries I was working under supervision and after  one year I was complete performing jobs standalone.

This weekend i have fun time to visit various internet forum relating  to petroleum industry ,  The most interesting thing  I found from one of  forum was some people were claiming with text like that” I have forward my Cv  to many  jobs sites but i didn’t see any response”.  These people might be the use wrong strategies or they use wrong jobs sites to apply for petroleum jobs.  One important thing to keep in mind is that Before you begin to send Cv to these jobs site you should know that  not all jobs sites are  good place for you to submit your resumes. One most common mistake many job seeker do is  to send their resume in any jobs site they see in the internet. I recommend you not doing so.

Okay, let’s go

Now days, when you go through  internet you may encounter a lot of sites where they  publish oil and gas jobs, But most of these jobs site are not keep in touch with employee, recruiters or recruiting agency who are  key people to give you opportunity in petroleum company.

These Are Three Types Of Oil Companies

As you pursue a career in petroleum industry either you want to do  business in oil and gas sector or  you would like to get the job in petroleum companies, it is better to know these three types of petroleum companies and it well help you know  where you can start  so as to reach your dreams in petroleum industry.

Well ,let us begin

There are three types of oil Companies

1.International Oil company (IOC)  Which also is non state-owned or privately owned. An Ioc is an international super major  oil company like

  • Exxon Mobil,
  • Royal Dutch Shell, BP,
  • Chevron,
  • Conoco Philips

IOC are available  in most countries where oil and natural gas exploration and production occur.

2.National Oil Company (NOC) or state-owned company of an oil-producing host country, example

  • Tpdc in Tanzania
  • Adnoc in Abu Dhahabi
  • PEMEX in Mexico,
  • Statoil in Norway. Together all NOC currently control 88% Of oil reserves.

Unlike the independent or IOC they rarely work outside the  country borders.

3.Independent Oil and gas company

This privately owned company are non integrated which means they receive all revenue from  oil and natural  gas production at the wellhead. The are  exclusively in the exploration and production segment of the industry and are found world-wide.

Huyu Ndiye Mtu Muhimu Sana Kwenye Sekta ya Mafuta na Gesi Duniani

Ni kweli ni muhimu sana huyu, kwani juhudi zake  ndo zinakufanya wewe unafurahia maisha sasa,  una uwezo wa kusafiri umbali mrefu kwa ndege au gari, unatumia internet kuwasiliana na rafiki kujifunza, una jiko la gesi, yote haya ni kwa sababu ya huyu bwana Edwin Laurentine Drake.

 Historia ya sekata ya mafuta Duniani ilizaliwa   August 27 mwaka 1859 uko Titusville Pennsylvania nchini Marekani, baada ya Edwin Laurentine Drake  ambae alifanya kazi ya ukonda kwnye gari moshi (treni) kwa miaka 8, alipochimba kisima cha kwanza cha mafuta(black gold) na kufanikiwa kuyapata katika urefu wa futi 69.5.

Kabla ya Drake Kuchimba kisima cha kwanza cha mafua katika mji wa  Titusville, Pennsylvania Nchini Marekani, watu wote ulimwnguni walikuwa wakipata mafuta katika sehemu  ambazo mafuta yalikuwa yakitiririka yenyewe toka ardhini bila kuchimbwa. Yani ilikuwa huitajiki kutumia teknolojia yoyote kuchimba mafuta, mafuta yalikuwa yanatiririka toka ardhini kama vile unavyoona chem chem za maji. Njia hii raisi ya upatikanaji wa mauta iilikuwa bado ni changamoto kwani  bado hizo chem chem zilikuwa hazizalishi kiwango kikubwa cha mafuta kukidhi mahitaji.

Edwin Laurentine Drake alizaliwa tarehe 29 mwaka 1819, Katika maisha yake Edwin alifanya kazi tofauti ngumu kwa miaka 11, mwaka 1845 alijikuta akizama kwenye dimbwi la kimapenzi na kumuoa mwanadaa Philena Adam ambaye alifariki wakati alipokuwa akijifungua, Mwaka 1849 alipata kazi ya kuwa kondakta wa gari moshi(treni) ambayo aliifanya kazi hiyo kwa miaka 8. Mwaka 1957 Drake alioa tena mke mwingine Laura Dowd. Baadae Drake alilazimika kuacha kazi hiyo ya ukonda kutokana na kusumbuliwa na maumivu ya misuli.

DRAKE KUTOKA KWENYE UKONDA HADI KUAJIRIWA KWENYE KAMPUNI YA MAFUTA

Mwaka 1850 kundi la wanasheria na wakemia wa Marekani walianzisha kampuni ya kwanza ya mafuta duniani iliyoitwa “The Seneca Oil Company” Edwin alifanikiwa kupata kazi kwenye kampuni hiyo Huku kazi yake ya ukonda wa treni ikiwa kama ndio sifa iliyomfanya apate kazi hiyo kutokana na waajiri wa kampuni walikuwa wakitaka mtu ambae ataweza kusafiri vijiji vya mbali vya Pennsylvania kukusanya mafuta kwenye chem chem zilizokuwa zikitiririsha mafuta.Hivyo uzoefu wa Drake kuwa konda ilionekana atainufaisha kampuni kwani huenda akasafiri hadi vijiji eidha bure au kwa gharama nafuu.

EDWIN ANZA KUCHIMBA KISIMA WATU WAMCHEA NA KUMUITA MJINGA

Edwin alipoanza kufanya kazi na kampuni hiyo ya mafuta alifikiri namna ya kuongeza uzalishaji wa mafuta katika chem chem ambazo mafuta yalikuwa yakitiririka bila kuchimbwa (oil seeps). Katika kufikri hilo akapata wazo la kuchimba shimo ili kuweza kupata mafuta. Lakini jitihada zake ziligonga mwamba kwani alikutana na changamoto nyingi mwanzoni na kumpelekea kushindwa. Hata msaidizi wake wa uchimbaji (driller) aliyeitwa  William alianza kukata tama.Kisima(shimo) hicho ambacho Edwin alishindwa kilitwa “Drake’s folly” yani upumbavu wa Drake na baadhi ya watu ambao waliamini hataweza kufanikiwa

EDWIN ATUMIA UBUNIFU

Edwin aliamua kubadili na akaamua kutumia mabomba ya  chuma ambayo yaliweza kutoboa mwamba tabaka(sedimentary rock) aina ya shale. Ilikuwa ni august 27 1859 ambapo  alifanikiwa kuyapata mafuta (black gold) katika urefu wa futi 69. Asubuhi yake msimamizi wake alipoenda  site kukagua kazi aliona ajabu sana kuona kisima cha Drake (Drake’s well) kikitoa kiwango kikubwa cha mafuta. Inakadiriwa kisima hicho kilikuwa kina uwezo wa kuzalisha mapipa ya mafuta 20 hadi 40 kwa siku.

Matumizi ya ugunduzi wa mafuta ya Edwin Drake ulitia hamasa ubunifu wa wajasiriamali  na wagunduzi wengi duniani ambao walibuni  vitu kama magari vitakavyoweza ktumia mafuta ili kumrahisishia maisha mwanadamu.Leo hii kila anatumia kifaa au vifaa ambavyo viligunduliwa na wajasiriamali wengine baada ya Drake kugundua mafuta.Leo hii una uwezo wa kusafiri mamia na melfu ya maili za umbali kutokana na mafuta, unatumia gesi kupikia nyumbani, unatumia generata na pia mafuta na gesi kwa sasa ndo yanaendesha internet na mawasilano yote duniani.

Aminex CEO: TPDC investment “great sign of support”

Jay Bhattacherjee, chief executive of Aminex (LON:AEX), says the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation’s (TPDC) backing of the Kiliwani North as a great sign of support for the project.

Speaking to Proactive, Bhattacherjee adds that TPDC’s decisions to take a 5% working interest in the project provides some assurance that a gas sales agreement will soon be reached and production will get underway.

Participants in the KNDL are currently: Ndovu Resources Ltd (Aminex) 58.5% (operator), RAK Gas LLC 25%, Solo Oil 6.5% and Bounty Oil & Gas NL 10%.

Solo Oil has Welcomed the decision of Tpdc to back Into Kiliwani North

Solo Oil has welcomed the decision of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation to back into the Kiliwani North Development Licence for a 5% working interest as a fully paying partner.

The assignment of the interest to TPDC will be subject to it paying the existing joint venture partnership the 5% pro-rata share of the development capital spent to date and to complying with the existing joint operating agreement.

Once the back-in is concluded Solo’s interest in the KNDL will be 6.175% (current interest 6.5%).

Solo chairman Neil Ritson said: “Solo is delighted that TPDC have chosen to exercise their back-in rights which will further increase their alignment with the partnership developing Kiliwani North.

“We continue to anticipate reaching final agreement on the gas sales agreement shortly and gas sales revenues commencing soon after.”

The KNDL contains the Kiliwani North 1 well, which the company expects to produce at up to approximately 30 million feet per day of gas (gross). Once producing this will represent a major milestone for Solo, providing the company’s first revenues from its investments in Tanzania.

A gas sales agreement, with appropriate payment guarantee provisions, is pending signature and once signed will allow gas to flow from the KNDL to the newly constructed Songo Songo Island gas processing facilities and into the national pipeline to customers in Dar es Salaam.

Solo holds an option to increase its interest in the KNDL by 6.5% to a total of 13% once the gas sales agreement is signed for a further payment of $3.5 million to Aminex. This option will also be subject to TPDC back-in once concluded. Solo would then hold a 12.35% working interest in the licence.

Participants in the Kiliwani North Development Licence are currently: Ndovu Resources Ltd (Aminex) 58.5% (operator), RAK Gas LLC 25%, Solo Oil plc 6.5% and Bounty Oil & Gas 10%.

Kinachotakiwa hapa ni wanafunzi wanasoma taaluma hii ya mafuta na  gesi nchini wajiongeze wenyewe kutafuta maarifa zaidi  ili waweze kuwa bora katika taaluma hii.
