A discovery can be plugged into the new gas pipeline.

Aminex plc (LON:AEX) said a drill rig has now been mobilised following the completion of civil works at the Ntorya-2 site in Tanzania.

Around 1.5km from Ntorya-1, the second well will target 153bn cubic (BCF) feet of gas.

Aminex, which owns 75% of the Ruvuma acreage that is host potentially to significant accumulations of gas, sees Ntorya-2 as a low risk appraisal project.

Work will begin late this quarter and is expected to take between 45 and 60 days.

The original well, completed more than four years ago, flow tested at 20mln cubic feet of gas a day with 139 barrels of gas condensate.

Ntorya-2 well is being drilled into thicker part of the sand body located on the seismic data in 2014.

Aminex’s partner is fellow AIM explorer Solo Oil PLC (LON:SOLO).

The area in question lies just 20 kilometres from the Mtwara to Dar es Salaam gas pipeline which was commissioned in late 2015.

It is transporting gas from various fields, including the Kiliwani North Field, operated by Aminex and where Solo holds just over a 7% stake.

“Advancing the Ntorya appraisal and its commercialisation is now a key objective for Solo and we are pleased that rig mobilisation is now underway,” said Solo chairman Neil Ritson.

“The discovery of gas in high quality Cretaceous sandstone reservoirs in the onshore portion of the Ruvuma Basin represents very significant value and we look forward to confirmation of the spud date in due course.”

The workshop is to build the capacity of the twenty-four selected participants – eight each from Ghana, Tanzania and Uganda – in the extractive industry. “This training programme aims at equipping the reporters to understand the value chain in the extractive industry,” said Nicholas Phythian, the course content developer.

“This will give them the understanding in reporting on oil, gas and mining issues.” Some of the areas the course will cover during the fourteen days include contracting, environmental impact issues, revenue use and transparency and accountability.

Participants will share their countries’ experiences and practices in order to point out the differences and similarities, challenges, successes, potentials and the way forward. One of the significant issues the course covers is when and why a country will decide to extract a natural resource or not. “There is the need for a balance with issues such cost, the environment, revenue and how beneficial will it be to the people.”

MOZAMBIQUE AWARDS CGG MULTI-CLIENT PROJECTS OFFSHORE ROVUMA, SOUTHERN MOZAMBIQUE BASINS

oil-rig-jpg-scale-large

CGG has announced it has been awarded an extensive multi-client program by the Instituto Nacional de Petroleo/ Institute of National Petroleum of Mozambique  (INP) to acquire seismic data offshore Mozambique a multi-survey program designed to improve industry insight into the region’s geology and provide oil and gas companies with a greater level of understanding of the country’s prospectivity.

The program includes a 2D survey of over 6,550 km in the offshore Rovuma basin, including blocks R5-A, R5-B and R5-C, and a large 3D survey over the Beira High in the Zambezi Delta. The 3D survey is expected to be up to 40,000 km², subject to pre-commitment.

It will cover blocks Z5-C and Z5-D and surrounding open acreage in this deltaic area which is believed to be prospective.

CGG has also been awarded an onshore airborne gravity and magnetic survey in the Southern Mozambique Basin.

The proposed multi-client seismic program in the Mozambique Zambezi region will form part of a comprehensive, fully integrated geoscience package that will give participating companies a better overall understanding of the region.

Marine gravity and magnetic data will be acquired simultaneously with the seismic to aid regional interpretation.

The interpretive phase of the program will benefit from the full range of geoscience expertise from CGG’s Geology, Geophysics & Reservoir businesses including geological and remote sensing expertise from Robertson and NPA Satellite Mapping.

“As our first multi-client projects in Mozambique, these awards fit well with CGG’s long-term multi-client strategy to provide our clients with the most advanced understanding of the subsurface across the world’s key basins. The 5th License Round award process undertaken by the INP in 2015 saw a high level of interest in the Zambezi region and we believe our multi-client projects will highlight the exploration upside potential,” says Jean-Georges Malcor, CEO, CGG.

Tanzania, Congo Sign Deal for Joint Oil Exploration in Lake Tanganyika

_90749144_oilpipeline

DAR ES SALAAM – Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday for joint exploration and development of hydrocarbons in Lake Tanganyika.

The lake, which straddles the border between Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi and Zambia, is the world’s second largest by volume and second deepest, according to officials.

“We have signed a memorandum of understanding to exchange experiences in exploration and exploitation of petroleum in Lake Tanganyika,” Congolese President Joseph Kabila told a news conference in Dar es Salaam after talks with Tanzanian President John Magufuli.

“We believe that there is petroleum in Lake Tanganyika.”

Kabila, who arrived in Tanzania late on Monday for a three-day state visit, said the two countries had agreed to pursue joint oil and gas exploration activities in the lake.

“We have also discussed mutual cooperation in the proposed crude oil pipeline project to be constructed from Uganda to Tanzania. Uganda is expected to start producing oil soon and Congo will also in the next few years begin its own oil production,” Kabila said.

Land-locked Uganda announced in April it would build a pipeline for its oil through Tanzania rather than Kenya, which had wanted to secure the export route.

Kabila said Congo wanted to use the same pipeline to export its future oil production from Lake Albert.

France’s Total, one of the oil firms developing Uganda’s fields, is taking part in the construction of the crude oil pipeline along with Britain’s Tullow Oil and China’s CNOOC.

Tanzanian officials said they expected construction of the pipeline to be completed in 2020 at an estimated cost of $3.5 billion.

Tanzania in 2011 awarded oil and gas exploration rights for the northern side of Lake Tanganyika to a subsidiary of Total.

Interest in East Africa as a new hydrocarbon region has been heating up in recent years after major discoveries of oil in Uganda and natural gas in Tanzania and Mozambique.

Tanzania announced in February it had discovered an additional 2.17 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of possible natural gas deposits in an onshore field, raising its total estimated recoverable natural gas reserves to more than 57 tcf.

East Africa’s second-biggest economy is yet to make commercial discoveries of oil.

The Biggest Danger In Tanzania’s Oil and Gas And How To Turn It Into Money-Making Cake

                           pt_tullos_sam_williams

Deep down you know it’s true that Tanzania’s oil and gas is growing at alarming rates. And if you look into industry today you’ll notice three things:

1.Foreign companies Everywhere are scrambling To Tap Opportunities
Major oil players in the world –Shell, Statoil, Exxon Mobil, Ophir energy, Pavilion energy have established offices in Tanzania. Even the Asian oil companies such as China National Offshore oil companies (CNOOC ) that were rarely to see them are now in the region. And more are coming in. Tanzania’s petroleum sector has become a powerful magnet for foreign investors.
2. New oil and gas projects are forthcoming
The Uganda–Tanzania oil-export pipeline projects that will cover 1403 kilometer stand to create over 15,000 jobs. The government plans to build a Liquefied natural gas plant in Lindi southern part of Tanzania. To top it off, some of the local companies are engaging in entire supply chain and supportive services.
3. Abundant oil and natural gas are underway

Tanzania has discovered approximately 57.25 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. 10.17 trillion cubic feet is on land and 40.08 trillion cubic feet is in deep water. But exploration is underway. So more discovery might be forthcoming.

So what does all this mean to you? Simple. All such projects require different local workers.

Sadly, Tanzania faces a serious shortage of local labor with skills and experiences relevant to oil and gas. The shortage of skilled local workforce with skills it threatens the oil and gas economy.

To reap substantial reward from the oil and gas we must have a pool of local workforce who will handle and manage our new found resources wealth.
.
Getting Our Young People Work into Oil and Gas
Tanzania is now witnessing with many institutions that are teaching modular in oil and gas courses. But the burning questions are  such graduates our institutions produce, meet the needs of oil and gas companies? And how do we get our young people employed in oil and gas?

To be completely Transparent, Oil and gas sector is specialized industry and is capital intensive this living testimony there are limited opportunities for an inexperienced workforce.

Unfortunately, the more natural gas found in Tanzania is in the deep sea.(47.08 cubic feet) this generate fewer jobs because of complexity and specialized management needed which most of our local workforce don’t have.

I always say If you want to make money In Tanzania’s oil and gas sector just fix the problem. It’s that simple. The fun thing is oil and gas is new industry in our country so there is always room for improvement. How? Stick with me here.

But before we go any further, allow me to give the general topic in our daily life

In entrepreneurship perspective, we don’t blame anybody when we experience challenges. Why? because entrepreneurs see the problem in different ways, They turn challenges into an opportunity. In other words, problems are entrepreneurs’ money.
So the problem here is the shortage of skills local labor. And that’s where you come in and make huge cash through Training local workforce in different aspect of oil and gas

As James Tastard, vice president of human resources for Norwegian oil and gas firm Statoil says,” training are keys to meeting skills shortage challenge in oil and gas industry”

I read recently on the internet , to deal with skills shortage the government intends to have 500 local experts in 10 years in the oil and gas sector.

But trust me this the biggest challenge you can shoulder your responsibility and make money as well.

Now. Let’s training our young people to help them getting feet into the oil and gas company’s doors

Getting Into Oil and Gas Training
I recommend you name your training as “GETTING INTO OIL AND GAS TRAINING”

But your should provide training in the industry specific skills. The professions that are in higher demand in oil and gas. Why do I say this? Because this skills will boost them to get employed and fit themselves in oil and gas.

Your Training Must focus on these areas
Welding Bench Fitting Pipe Pigging Electronics pipeline pigging, safety training, plumbing.

Let’s take a journey to help our next generation in oil and gas, train them and  enter into Tanzania’s oil and gas work place.
