Invictus Energy Ltd has awarded a key well services contract to SLB for the planned Musuma-1 exploration well in Zimbabwe, as the company advances preparations for drilling expected to begin in November 2026.
Invictus is an independent oil and gas exploration company focused on high-impact energy resources in sub-Saharan Africa. Its Cabora Bassa Project covers approximately 360,000 hectares in Zimbabwe, including the Mukuyu Gas Field and multiple basin-margin prospects.
SLB selected for Musuma-1 well services.
SLB, formerly known as Schlumberger, has been selected to provide specialized well and drilling services for the Musuma-1 exploration campaign.
According to Invictus, the contract covers specialized services, technology and operational resources required for the drilling program.
The company said SLB’s involvement also provides continuity from the successful Mukuyu-2 drilling campaign, where the company previously provided technical services.
Invictus Managing Director Scott Macmillan said securing SLB completes another important part of the Musuma-1 drilling campaign and advances the project’s operational readiness.
“SLB brings world-class technical expertise, equipment and operational capability, as well as valuable continuity from the successful Mukuyu-2 drilling campaign.”
Wellpad and access road construction underway.
Preparations for Musuma-1 are progressing across several workstreams. Invictus said construction of the Musuma-1 wellpad, access roads and associated civil works is already underway. Site preparation is advancing ahead of the planned mobilisation of the drilling rig.
At the same time, Exalo Rig 202 has entered its maintenance and preparation program ahead of mobilisation to the Musuma-1 location.
The company said well services equipment is also entering the preparation and mobilisation phase.
Musuma-1 remains on track for November spud.
With drilling and well services arrangements progressing, Invictus said Musuma-1 remains on track to spud in November 2026.
The well is part of the company’s ongoing exploration program in the Cabora Bassa Basin, an area that Invictus considers highly prospective for oil and gas resources.
The company said multiple activities are now progressing in parallel as it moves toward the drilling campaign.

Why Musuma-1 matters.
The Musuma-1 well represents another important exploration campaign in Zimbabwe’s emerging upstream oil and gas sector.
For Invictus, the immediate focus is now on completing site preparation, mobilising the drilling rig and well services equipment, and commencing drilling in November.
The company holds exploration interests covering approximately 360,000 hectares within the Cabora Bassa Basin, where its portfolio includes the Mukuyu Gas Field and several other prospects.
Tanzania Petroleum will continue to track developments from the Musuma-1 campaign and other upstream activities across sub-Saharan Africa.
